Grant Renewal Music To The Ears At Pickering Manor In Newtown
NEWTOWN, PA — Pickering Manor’s Memory Care Unit has received a $2,500 grant from the Rostair Foundation to continue funding music programs from On Demand! Programs and Events.
The grant will provide musical programs focusing on classics and recognizable songs for residents living with dementia.
Music has proven to be an exceptional tool in enhancing memory and the quality of residents’ lives, said Pickering's supportive living administrator Lisa Zelner.
“Music has a way of lifting spirits, bringing back special memories, and creating meaningful connections for our residents," she said. "Thanks to the support of the Rostair Foundation and On Demand!, we’re able to keep offering these wonderful experiences that make such a difference in their lives.”
The Rostair Foundation currently contributes to a wide range of groups and organizations with a focus on charities, which they believe promote peaceful, healthy, and vibrant communities. Pickering Manor and On Demand! share the foundation's vision.
For more than nine years, On Demand! has partnered with the Dementia Society of America to provide programs to enhance the lives of those affected.
“The Rostair Foundation is honored to support On Demand! music programming again this year," said Rostair President Robyn Herman. "Natalie Kaye and On Demand! provide dementia patients with crucial support through quality music programming. On Demand! exemplifies a cornerstone for Rostair, which is building connectedness through community by offering dementia patients music experiences that they wouldn't otherwise have access to. The members of Rostair truly feel that On Demand! programs would be a great addition to any dementia care unit in the area.”
“We are thrilled to obtain this grant on behalf of Pickering Manor," said Natalie Kaye, the founder and president of On Demand! "Our talented musical performers understand the powerful relationship of music to enhancing memory, and the tremendous joy and human connection their music programs bring to residents to uplift an often isolating and routine life.”
Added David Woodhead, CEO of Pickering Manor, “We are beyond grateful to the Rostair Foundation for their continued generosity and heartfelt commitment to our residents. This fifth grant means so much — it allows us to bring the joy of music and the power of connection to those in our care. Through their partnership with On Demand!, our residents experience moments of happiness and nostalgia that truly brighten their days and enrich their lives.”
