Dr. Lise Deguire, the author of Flashback Girl: Lessons on Resilience from a Survivor, is a clinical psychologist practicing in Pennington, NJ. At the age of four, she was third-degree burned on 65% of her body as the result of both maternal and corporate negligence. Against the odds, she lived through this injury, beginning decades of excruciating surgeries. She grew up in a highly dysfunctional family, losing four members to suicide. Despite these life challenges, Dr. Deguire has forged a triumphant path towards love, health and life satisfaction. She is happily married with two amazing daughters. She waited 50 years to write her memoir, until her entire family of origin was gone.

Flashback Girl was released in 2020 and has received over 50 Amazon 5-star reviews.  Lise has appeared on NPR’s “The Pulse”, Sirius XM, regional TV, ABC, NBC, FOX and numerous podcasts.  She is a regular blogger for Psychology Today, Tiny Buddha and numerous other publications and writes a bi-weekly inspirational blog which can be accessed via her website. She is a national keynote speaker and has also spoken locally at various faith-based groups, libraries, women’s conferences, as well as business and health organizations. Her goal is to reach as many people as possible with her message.

Dr. Deguire recently won two prestigious international book awards: The Nautilus Gold Award and  was named a finalist in the Next Generation Indie book awards. Each of these competitions attract hundreds of entries from around the world. Prior recipients of the Nautilus Gold Award include: Deepak Chopra, The Dalai Lama, Eckhart Tolle and Desmond Tutu.

"Finding & Cultivating Your Resilience"

At the age of four, Dr. Lise Deguire suffered third-degree burns on 65% of her body as the result of negligence.  Against the odds, she lived through the trauma, beginning decades of treatment as a burn survivor…and this is just part of her compelling story. Dr. Deguire overcame multiple hardships, including neglect, bullying, disfigurement and multiple family suicides, building a long but ultimately triumphant path towards love, health, and life satisfaction. Dr. Deguire, now a psychologist, will also offer information and suggestions on how you too can improve your capacity for psychological resilience.

A story of light over darkness, triumph over trauma, Dr. Deguire’s story will give you hope and perspective, some of life’s greatest gifts.
